Principal's Message

Welcome to Olympia High School

Christy GorbergTitan Families! This is your principal, Christy Gorberg, with your weekly update.

Here’s what is happening on campus next week:

Underclassman CFEs - 9th- 11th grade students will be taking their common final exams on May 16th and 17th.

Underclassman Schedules for next year - On Wed 5/18 9th- 11th grade students will get a message in their student email that contains the courses they requested for next year. Students will have until 5/20 to submit via a google form any adjustments needed.

Underclassman backpacks- This is a reminder that students will not be permitted to carry a backpack or any bag larger than a sheet of paper, 5/23-5/25, the last three days of school.

Class of 2022 Graduation Rehearsal- Graduation rehearsal for the class of 2022 will be held on 5/19 at 9 am in the Olympia auditorium.  Seniors should dress in casual, school appropriate attire.  Seniors will park in the senior lot and enter the auditorium from the outside doors via the bus loop. Seniors will check in with their school counselor in the auditorium lobby upon arrival.

Class of 2022 Baccalaureate- May 17th at 6pm in the auditorium. Baccalaureate is similar to graduation in that seniors wear their  cap and gown, and family/friends are invited to watch. There are no tickets to this event.  Baccalaureate is meant to be an inspirational ceremony reflecting on the past and the path taken to this momentous time of your life.

Weekly COVID Update- This past week, a total of 3 individuals associated with our school reported a laboratory positive COVID-19 test result. Individuals in proximity were notified as soon as we were made aware and impacted areas on campus were disinfected. The Florida Department of Health in Orange County continues to investigate, and may provide close contact letters when there are three or more lab-confirmed linked cases. If you have any questions about contact tracing, you may contact FDOH at 407-723-5004. Anyone who experiences symptoms of COVID should stay home and follow pandemic precautions. Our Dashboard continues to update with lab-confirmed cases nightly however sometimes the data lags behind this messaging. Thank you for helping to keep our community safe.

Please make sure your student brings their charger and has taken off any stickers.

Class of 2022- Senior information will continue to be distributed and updated through Canvas, Social Media platforms and student email accounts. Please continue to check these mediums so you do not miss out.

New arrival and dismissal procedures- We are continuing to distribute the new hang tags for car riders during afternoon dismissal in the car line. If you do not pick your student up in the afternoon, and only drop off in the morning, you may pick up your decal in the front office. Again, the registration link is in the email version of this call, or you can go to the front page of our website. As we are still in the distribution phase we have extended the timeline an extra week. After Friday, February 4 no vehicles will be allowed on campus at arrival or dismissal until the registration has been completed. Please know that the safety of students and staff is our top priority which is why we are implementing this new procedure. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we implement our new process. Thank you for your continued support
