Olympia Titan Tribute

A NEWSLETTER FOR THE OLYMPIA SCHOOL COMMUNITY

Principal's Message

Dear Titan Families,

I would like to take a moment to reflect on the incredible energy and school spirit that filled our campus during our Homecoming Week. From the vibrant parade and the competitive Powder Puff game to the exciting atmosphere of our Neon Pep Rally, every event was a celebration of what it means to be a Titan. The pep rally was a glow-in-the-dark experience featuring a live DJ and a powerful performance by our Titan Band, creating an electric environment that brought students and staff together in celebration. Friday evening’s football game brought our community together in full force, and our Homecoming Court represented Olympia with pride and grace. We ended the week on a high note with a dance that was both joyful and memorable. I am grateful to our students, staff, and families for making this week such a success.

In addition to our Homecoming festivities, we had the privilege of tapping our newest members of the National Honor Society. These students have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. We look forward to honoring them formally during this week’s induction ceremony.

Looking ahead, Thursday, October 9, will be PSAT and SAT School Day at Olympia High School. All ninth and tenth grade students will take the PSAT. These assessments provide valuable insight into students’ academic progress and help prepare them for future college entrance exams. All eleventh grade students will also take the PSAT/NMSQT, which serves as the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. All twelfth grade students will participate in the SAT, an important milestone in the college admissions process. We encourage all students to arrive on time, well rested, and prepared with a fully charged device. This is a meaningful opportunity for every student to demonstrate their growth and readiness for the next step in their academic journey.

Thank you for your continued support as we move forward together. Let us keep the momentum strong. #TitanUp.

Debate Tournament

We hosted the first regional Speech & Debate tournament of the year here this weekend. There were 550 students, 150 adult judges and 37 schools represented. Your Olympia Titans took first place of all of the schools, edging out Lake Highland Prep for the win. Olympia had 54 students competing at this tournament. Many of our students also had individual trophy wins. Congratulations to Josie Dee, Liane and Yarra Khabaz, Pearlen Kaur and Isabella Nakhleh, Santiago Bonilla, Gabbi Rousseau, and Arman Hunanyan for placing!

Hospitality and Culinary

A large group of students pose for a photo in a conference room.
In September, Olympia’s hospitality and culinary students had the opportunity to take part in an engaging educational site visit to the JW Marriott Bonnet Creek (our industry partner). This experience allowed our students to see first-hand how different departments within a luxury hotel work together to create a seamless guest experience.

During the visit, we explored key areas of the industry, including Sales and Marketing, Events and Conference Services, Hotel Operations, and Food and Beverage.

A highlight of the day was stepping into the kitchen, where students had the chance to apply their hospitality and culinary skills in a professional environment. This hands-on experience not only reinforced classroom learning but also inspired students by showing them the career pathways available in the hospitality industry!

Overall, this site visit provided invaluable exposure to real-world practices and further strengthened the connection between classroom learning and industry application!
