Welcome to this week's edition of the Olympia High School Weekly Update. I am excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged.

School News and Updates

Connectivity Day- Our next connectivity is January 29th and students must have permission slips to participate in the activities. Permission slips can be picked up in the Attendance Office and returned there as well. We do not want anyone left out so please be sure these are turned in.

Student IDs- Starting in January, students will be required to have their student IDs with them at all times to ensure they are in the right locations when their class has a substitute, attend school events, and participate in other related school activities.

AP Capstone Research Class Announcement- Parents, it is an exciting time in the AP Capstone Research classes! The AP Capstone Research students will soon begin collecting data for their projects. Admissions Decisions: Perspective & Perseverance

Many students are receiving early admissions decisions right now.

  • Celebrate the Wins, Breathe Through the Rest: If you receive an acceptance, congratulations! If the news wasn't what you hoped for, remember that rejection is redirection. There are hundreds of incredible colleges, and the CCRC is here to help you find the one that fits your goals.

  • Stay the Course: Remember that your offer of admission is provisional. Colleges will request your mid-year reports and final transcripts. Maintaining your grades and attendance is vital to ensuring your spot in the fall.

🧭 Student Services: Starting with Purpose

Happy New Year, Titans! As we kick off 2026 and begin the second semester, the Student Services team is here to help every student start the year with a clear sense of purpose. A new semester is more than just a schedule change; it’s a Fresh Start—an opportunity to build on your successes from the fall and pivot where needed.

🌱 The "Semester Reset": Reflect & Refocus
Before diving into new assignments, we encourage students to take 10 minutes to reflect on the first half of the year. Ask yourself:
  • What worked? (e.g., "I turned in my math homework on time.")
  • What was a struggle? (e.g., "I felt rushed in the mornings and missed first period.")
  • What is one thing I want to do differently?

Tip for Success: Instead of setting a huge "Resolution," try setting a Process Goal. Instead of saying "I want an A in English," try "I will check my grades every Sunday night." Focusing on the process makes the product possible!
