Olympia Graduation Rehearsal and Breakfast
PTSA will host a Senior Breakfast at Olympia from 8-9 am for all graduating seniors on Tuesday, May 19th.

After the breakfast, on Tuesday, May 19th, there will be a required graduation rehearsal in the Olympia Auditorium from 9-11 am.

Please know that all seniors who plan to take part in graduation on Friday, May 22 must attend the rehearsal. Please make sure graduating seniors do not schedule any work, college orientations, or trips during that time.

We will share more information about all senior events, including graduation, when we know more.

Grad Bash for Olympia Seniors will be Friday, April 24 from 6:00 pm-3:00 am at Universal Orlando. Grad Bash is an optional experience for graduating seniors. Universal opens both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure exclusively for ticketed seniors for this special event. Tickets are $135 to pay for admission to two theme parks and bus transportation. Tickets MUST be purchased before March 9. Tickets are non-refundable, so make sure you have the date available. It is a student holiday on the OCPS Calendar.

PTSA Volunteer Opportunity at API- Every year, Olympia's PTSA hosts the concessions tent on the 18th green at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Students, parents, staff, or coaches may currently sign up to volunteer for one slot. Sign ups are now open for March 5th-8th! Many more details are listed on the sign up, so please read the full description there. If you have any additional questions, please email our PTSA President, Brooke Benson, at olympiaptsa@gmail.com. Thank you!

Connectivity Day- Our next connectivity is March 12th and students must have permission slips to participate in the activities. Permission slips can be picked up in the Attendance Office and returned there as well. Any students who have not turned in their signed permission slips will be assigned an academic study hall. We do not want anyone left out so please be sure these are turned in.

Important Reminders

Student Safety - Once students are on campus, they are required to stay on campus unless signed out by a parent or guardian. This is to ensure that all of our Olympia students are safe and supervised at all times.

Student IDs- Beginning in March, students will be required to display their student IDs upon entering the school campus. Currently, they are required to have them at all times while on campus to ensure they are in the right locations when their class has a substitute, attend school events, and participate in other related school activities.

Cell Phones & iPads/tablets & Headphones - From first to last bell, students may not use cell phones, iPads, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds, or headphones. Per OCPS policy, all devices must be silenced and stored in a backpack or purse for the entire school day, including during class changes and lunch. If a student is found using a device, they will be required to turn it in. After the first offense, progressive discipline will follow. For more information, visit www.ocps.net to view the Code of Student Conduct.

The CCRC: Your Senior's Hub for Success

Seniors: Personalized Financial Aid Support
To better support our seniors, we are transitioning to a one-on-one support model for the FAFSA and FFAA (Florida Financial Aid Application).
  • Individual Check-ins: We are reaching out directly to students who still have these tasks on their "to-do" list to offer personalized guidance. Our goal is to ensure every Titan has access to the Bright Futures and federal aid they’ve earned.
  • Visit the CCRC: If your student has questions or needs a quiet space with resources to finish their application, they are always welcome in the CCRC (Room 2-211). We are here to help!
💰 Scholarship & Portal Reminders
  • Check Your Portals: Once accepted to a college, students must log into their applicant portals to search for school-specific scholarships.
  • Xello is a MUST: Xello (via LaunchPad) remains our primary tool for local and national scholarship searches.
🚀 Crucial Habits: Attendance & Communication
  • Check Emails DAILY: This is the most critical habit for seniors. Students must check BOTH their personal and OCPS email accounts every day. A single missed message can mean a missed scholarship or financial aid deadline.
  • ATTENDANCE MATTERS: Every day in class is a step toward your post-secondary goal. Your final transcript is the last thing colleges see—make it count!

Building a "Future-Ready" Family Connection
As your counselors spend these weeks meeting with students to select classes and discuss post-graduation goals, we want to highlight that the most impactful conversations often happen at home.
Planning for the future can feel high-stakes for teenagers, which sometimes leads to "shutting down." This week, we encourage you to focus on Collaborative Communication—the idea that you and your student are a team working toward their goals.

Try these 3 "Family Planning" Tips:
  • Validate the Stress: Choosing classes and thinking about life after high school is a heavy mental load. Acknowledge that by saying: "I know there’s a lot to think about right now. I’m proud of how you’re navigating it."
  • Ask "Open-Ended" Questions: Instead of asking, "Did you pick your classes?", try: "What is one elective you’re genuinely curious about for next year?" or "What do you think will be your biggest challenge next semester, and how can I support you?"
  • The "Freshman Foundation" Talk: Remind your student (especially our 9th graders!) that every grade they earn now is an investment in their future self. A strong start in 9th grade keeps every door open for the years to come.

🗺️ Mapping the Journey: Why the Foundation Matters
We are currently meeting with 9th–11th graders to map out their academic paths for next year. We want every family to understand why these early steps are so critical:
  • GPA is Cumulative: Your high school GPA is a 4-year average that begins on day one of 9th grade. Every grade earned is a permanent part of the record colleges and employers will eventually see.
  • Unlocking Future Success: A solid foundation early on is what unlocks Honor courses, Dual Enrollment, and advanced electives. Success in 9th grade builds the "resume" needed to access high-rigor programs in the future.
  • Habits for Life: Attendance and time management are not just "school skills"—they are the habits that define a successful career in the military, the workforce, or a university.
  • It's Not Too Late: Even if your student is not a freshman, they can still do good by making positive changes now. A strong finish is just as important as a strong start!
