Important Reminders

Student Safety - Once students are on campus, they are required to stay on campus unless signed out by a parent or guardian. This is to ensure that all of our Olympia students are safe and supervised at all times.

Student IDs- Beginning in March, students will be required to display their student IDs upon entering the school campus. Currently, they are required to have them at all times while on campus to ensure they are in the right locations when their class has a substitute, attend school events, and participate in other related school activities.

Cell Phones & iPads/tablets & Headphones - From first to last bell, students may not use cell phones, iPads, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds, or headphones. Per OCPS policy, all devices must be silenced and stored in a backpack or purse for the entire school day, including during class changes and lunch. If a student is found using a device, they will be required to turn it in. After the first offense, progressive discipline will follow. For more information, visit www.ocps.net to view the Code of Student Conduct.

Senior Action Plan: Mapping Your Future

Seniors, as the 3rd quarter winds down, it is time to finalize the pieces of your post-secondary puzzle. We are here to help you cross the finish line—stop by and see us during lunch if you have questions!

Your Weekly Senior Checklist:

  • Xello Scholarship Search: We are moving our primary scholarship search to Xello. This platform matches you with local and national awards based on your specific profile.
  • How to access: Log in to Xello via Clever, click on "College Planning," and then select "Scholarships" under the "Matches" section.
  • Pro Tip: Complete your "Profile Booster" in Xello to see more specialized matches that fit your unique hobbies and background!

  • Check Emails Daily: This is critical. Colleges, scholarship committees, and the financial aid office are sending time-sensitive requests for missing documents. Missing one email could mean missing a deadline. Make it a habit to check your student and personal inbox every morning.

  • FAFSA & Financial Aid: If you haven't submitted your FAFSA or FFAA yet, please don't wait. Many priority deadlines are approaching. If you are stuck on a section or don't know where to start, come see me during lunch

  • A Final Thought: We know the pressure to "have it all figured out" is high right now. Just remember: No one gets to judge your journey. Whether you are headed to a university, a trade school, the military, or the workforce, your path is valid and we are proud of the work you are putting in.
Need help? Stop by the College & Career center during your lunch break! I am here to help you navigate these next steps.

Finding Your Rhythm: Mid-Semester Wellness

As we move into the second half of the semester, it is natural for students to feel a "mid-year slump." This week, our Student Services team is focusing on building sustainable habits to keep Titans strong and focused.

New Ideas & Highlights for this Week:

  • Heart-Healthy Habits: In honor of Heart Health Month, we encourage students to take a "Digital Detox" for 30 minutes before bed to improve sleep quality and reduce academic anxiety.

  • Attendance Awareness: Even as the weather changes, "Attendance Matters." Consistency in the classroom is the #1 predictor of success for our students as they prepare for spring testing.

  • The "3rd Quarter Pulse Check": Encourage your student to log into their portal this weekend to identify any missing assignments or upcoming tests. Breaking a large to-do list into "Must-Dos" and "May-Dos" can make the final weeks feel much more manageable.

  • Random Acts of Kindness: Next week is National Random Acts of Kindness Week. We challenge every Titan to offer one word of encouragement to a peer or teacher to help build a supportive campus culture.

  • Course Selection Final Reminders: Counselors are currently meeting with students to discuss next year’s goals. Parents, please check with your student to ensure they have explored their elective options in Focus.

  • Managing "Academic Endurance": The stretch between the winter holidays and Spring Break is often the most taxing. Remind students that it is okay to ask for help from their counselor if they are feeling overwhelmed by the workload.
