Hello Titans and Titan Families! 

If you are interested in being a voting member of our School Advisory Council this year, regardless of whether or not you were able to attend our August meeting, please fill out the information below to formally express your interest in becoming part of Olympia High School's School Advisory Council for the 2026/2027 school year. Voting will then take place to confirm our members. Please ensure that you submit your interest by 11:59 pm on Wednesday, August 26th, 2026. Voting will then take place from Thursday, August 27th through Monday, August 31st. This will allow us to ratify our membership, confirm our bylaws, select our officers, and begin voting for our September meeting. 

The OHS SAC meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm in our media center with the expectation of our January and August meetings. SAC members are expected to attend meetings and contribute to the overall functioning of the school as defined by the SAC bylaws. The four main functions of our School Advisory Council are to review and approve our draft School Improvement Plan, hear and decide on funding requests for certain projects/items, give budgetary input, and to lead the school recognition fund process.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Under the new OCPS county-wide eligibility criteria, eligible students should check their school email accounts for invitations and application instructions to apply for membership in the Olympia Chapter of the National Honor Society.

Invitations and application materials have been sent electronically and contain important information about the selection process, requirements, and deadlines. Students who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to review their school email promptly to ensure they do not miss this opportunity to be recognized for their scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

There will be an optional Q&A on Tuesday, August 25th after school or Wednesday August 26th during A & B lunch in Room 517. Anyone who received an invitation to apply is welcome to stop in if they have any questions.

My name is Duy Le, Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida. I am working with the Orlando Section of the American Chemical Society to organize illustrated poem contest for our K-12 student. I have been doing this for many years and thank you for your help to spread the words to teachers and students.

 

This time, for celebrating earth week, we organize 2026 NCW Illustrated Poem Contest: Chemistry Under Construction. We will have 4 category, the winner of each category will be advance to national contest. We also offer monetary awards to the winner and runner up.

The Craig and Barbara Weiner Holocaust Reflection Contest at Florida Atlantic University is a statewide competition, founded in 2014, open to Florida middle and high school students and teachers. This educational program encourages students to engage with Holocaust history through historical research, personal reflection, and creative expression, while learning from firsthand testimonies of Holocaust survivors.

Students are invited to select a survivor's story that inspires them and create an original submission in one of the following categories:

By participating, students develop historical understanding, critical thinking, empathy, and appreciation for human rights, social justice, and individual responsibility.

Students (Middle School and High School Divisions)

1st Place: $1,000 in each category       2nd Place: $250 in each category

Teachers of award-winning students

1st Place: $500 in each category          2nd Place: $250 in each category

Teachers always win a $25 gift card simply by submitting 10 or more entries.

Our new Titan Tokens platform is now ready for use! TitanTV will be featuring videos on how to use the platform and how to gain and use Titan Tokens throughout the year.

Please note that one major change to our Proud Titan Standards is that students must show their Titan Tokens balance using their phone or electronic device to enter extracurricular events. Students with a negative balance will not be permitted to attend as that would indicate that the student is not meeting our minimum expectations for their academic and social behaviors while on campus. Students can lose Titan Tokens for being tardy, being dress coded, having their cell phone confiscated, and for receiving referrals.

The great news is that students can alway earn positive credit by doing the right things!

Students can navigate to edpositive.com/home to access the platform, then by searching for "Olympia High School", then by entering their student number to view their balance. Starting this Friday during lunches, students can go to the Media Center to turn in their old Titan Bucks to have those bucks converted to Titan Tokens using the new platform.
