Florida Graduation Requirements

Students must successfully complete high school graduation requirements as set forth by Florida’s Department of Education. Students are advised to take a rigorous course of study while in high school if they are interested in applying to four-year colleges/universities. For detailed information on graduation requirements and minimum requirements to enter one of Florida's public universities, please access the academic advisement flyers in the languages below:


Below is an overview of graduation requirements for the 24 Credit Standard Diploma. For detailed information, please click on the links above:

GPA

2.0 unweighted cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.

Statewide Assessments

• Pass the Grade 10 Florida Standards Assessment English Language Arts (FSA ELA) Requirement

• Pass the Algebra 1 Florida Standards Assessment End of Course (FSA EOC) Requirement


24 Credits

4 Credits ELA


• ELA 1, 2, 3, 4

4 Credits Mathematics

• One of which must be Algebra 1 and one of which must be Geometry

3 Credits Science

• One of which must be Biology 1, two of which must be equally rigorous science courses

3 Credits Social Studies

• 1 credit in World History

• 1 credit in U.S. History

• 0.5 credit in U.S. Government

• 0.5 credit in Economics

1 Credit Fine and Performing Arts, Speech and Debate, or Practical Arts

1 Credit Physical Education

Students may satisfy this requirement through one of the following:

  • Pass the HOPE course (Health Opportunities through Physical Education)
  • Participation in 2 seasons of interscholastic sports at the high school level. Students must complete this form and turn into Student Services: Physical Education Waiver – Interscholastic Sports

8 Elective Credits

*1 online course must be included within the 24 specific credit requirements.

• Course may be 0.5 credit OR 1.0 credit in length, as long as it is the complete course. For example, Driver's Education is 0.5 credit, but HOPE is 1.0 credit. Completing either of these courses will satisfy the online course requirement.

• Courses taken online through Valencia, UCF, or UF dual enrollment satisfy this requirement.

If you have an account and it does not say Olympia High as your assigned school, you will need to change it to Olympia High School for approval to take the course you select.
